Nexus Securus Systems LLC is a New York-based advanced materials technology company developing patent-pending adaptive electro-optical glazing. Transmission modulates as light and solar conditions change instead of holding one fixed value.

The entry market is transit and commercial fleet safety, where glare is a documented liability for operators. Glare is a factor in roughly 1 in 4 vehicle crashes, and fleets today have no option between fixed tint and nothing. Commercial real estate and aerospace are expansion markets served by the same platform.

What It Does

Built to a Performance Spec

NSS is developing adaptive electro-optical glazing for commercial vehicles. The target is a glazing product a fleet can specify on measurable terms: visible light transmission that moves across a defined range, reduced glare on low-sun routes, and lower solar heat gain at peak load, with manual override available to the operator.

Transmission Range
Visible light transmission modulates across a defined range rather than holding one value. Target range is set per application and confirmed on test coupons.

Glare Response
Transmission drops when a low sun puts glare in the driver's field of view, and returns as the condition passes. This is the failure case fixed tint cannot address.

Solar Heat Gain
Solar heat gain coefficient tracks conditions instead of sitting at one number all day, which is where the cabin comfort and HVAC load case comes from.

Operator Control
Automatic response is the default. The operator can take manual control, which matters for fleet acceptance and for driver trust in the first weeks of a pilot.

The Difference

Glass That Responds to Conditions

Standard tint holds one transmission value for the life of the vehicle. It gets set at install and never moves. That forces a compromise every fleet operator knows: dark enough for noon glare is too dark at dawn, and clear enough for dawn leaves the driver squinting at midday. NSS adaptive electro-optical glazing modulates transmission across a range as conditions change, and the operator can override it at any time.

Traditional Tint

One transmission value, chosen at install. It blocks the same amount of light at 5am as it does at noon. Fleet operators pick a single compromise and live with it for the service life of the vehicle.

NSS Adaptive Glazing

Transmission modulates across a range as glare and solar load rise and fall. Clearer in low light, darker at peak conditions, and the operator can take manual control whenever they want it.

For a fleet operator this is the difference between a driver squinting into a low sun on a 5am route and a driver who can see the road. Glare is a safety and liability problem before it is a comfort problem, and it shows up on the same routes at the same hours every day.

Why It Is Defensible

Existing products in this category either hold a fixed value or carry cost and complexity that keep them out of commercial vehicle programs. NSS is built to a different target: a response profile fleets can actually specify, on a platform that carries into buildings and aerospace without starting over.

Patent Position
Provisional application 63/921,781 was filed in November 2025 and covers the platform across vehicle, building, and aerospace applications. Non-provisional conversion is scheduled for 2026.
Fleet First
Commercial and transit fleets are the entry market. Glare on fixed daily routes is a documented safety and liability cost, and fleet buyers evaluate on measurable outcomes rather than aesthetics. Buildings and aerospace are expansion, not parallel bets.
What We Do Not Publish

Where We Are

NSS is in active prototype development. The technical approach is defined and a provisional application was filed with the USPTO in November 2025. Current operational focus is coupon fabrication and characterization with a commercial coating partner and a university nanofabrication facility, with controlled performance testing to follow.
